Projector screen

The projector screen offers a versatile solution for clear and bright image projection. Suitable for various settings, including presentations, it features a smooth, high-quality surface for an optimal viewing experience. Available to rent from av productions.

A good projector screen is as important as the projector itself. The right surface can dramatically improve brightness, contrast and clarity, especially in venues where walls are textured, coloured or uneven. AV Productions offers a range of projector screen hire options, from simple tripod units to fast-fold and fixed-frame screens, so your image has a clean, professional canvas. Screen formats typically include 1:1 (square) for flexible training and education, 4:3 for some legacy content, and 16:9 or 16:10 for modern widescreen presentations and video. Square screens are often used in schools and older meeting rooms because they adapt to different content easily, while 16:9 and 16:10 formats are preferred for contemporary slide decks and high-definition video. Portable tripod screens suit smaller rooms and mobile set-ups. They roll into a compact housing and sit on a height-adjustable tripod, making them easy to move between breakout rooms, community spaces or temporary venues. For larger corporate spaces, fast-fold screens with aluminium frames and tensioned surfaces are the preferred option. These screens can reach several metres wide, pack down into transport cases and provide a very flat surface, which is particularly important for high-resolution content and larger projectors.
In more permanent or high-end environments, fixed-frame or motorised ceiling-recessed screens are common. Fixed-frame models keep the surface permanently tensioned for maximum flatness and are often used in boardrooms, screening rooms and control spaces. Ceiling-recessed electric screens hide away when not in use and drop down at the push of a button, helping maintain a clean architectural look. Screen materials are usually matte white with a gain around 1.0 for general-purpose use, but higher-gain or grey surfaces can be specified for challenging environments or specific viewing angles. A proper screen surface optimises reflection, reduces hotspots and improves perceived contrast compared with projecting directly onto a wall. When planning an event, the choice of screen should take into account room size, audience distance, projector brightness and aspect ratio. A well-matched combination ensures that text remains legible at the back of the room, graphics stay sharp and video content feels immersive rather than washed out.
